Music Centre Fuuga will deliver world-class acoustics at the banks of the Aura River.

A new landmark for music and culture is rising on the eastern bank of the Aura River in Turku. The new Music Centre Fuuga will open its doors in 2026, replacing the city’s aging concert hall and creating a modern venue for orchestral music and cultural events

In this large-scale project, construction costs are estimated at EUR 90.5 million and a total floor area of 11,380 m². The music centre includes a main concert hall for approximately 1,300 visitors and a smaller multipurpose hall for around 300 people. In addition to performances, the building will feature a restaurant and a rooftop terrace open to the public.

The project is being delivered using the alliance model, where the client and project partners work closely together throughout design and construction. The building frame combines steel and concrete structures with extensive use of prefabrication.

Peikko supplied structural solutions for the project, including DELTABEAM® Green composite beams, PETRA® Green slab hangers and connection products for cast-in-situ structures. The structural system enables long spans and open spaces required by the “shoebox”-style concert hall design.

The project includes demanding structures, such as large spans and curved walls, which required tailored solutions and close cooperation between the project partners.

According to Hartela’s Site Manager Eerik Kylä-Kaila, collaboration with Peikko has worked well throughout the project:
“Cooperation with Peikko has been very good. We have listened to each other and have been able to make adjustments whenever needed.”

Peikko’s solutions also supported the project’s sustainability targets by enabling efficient structural solutions and the use of lower-emission products such as DELTABEAM® Green.
